How to Reduce Smog Pollution

!±8± How to Reduce Smog Pollution

Smog pollution is one environmental problem that we should give urgent attention to. In large urban cities, children get lung infections and nose and throat irritations. In agricultural areas, it causes the destruction of crops. Every year, millions and millions of dollars are wasted because of the effects of smog. It affects the health of children. It affects food supply. It affects all of us and all of us should do something to reduce it.

The cause of smog pollution is burning of fossil fuels. Every time we use electricity or use our car, we are burning fuels that emit chemicals into the air. Harmful chemicals that make up smog are carbon monoxide, sulfur oxides and nitrogen oxides. When these chemicals produce chemical reaction with the sunlight, they are called phyto-chemical smog. They form thick and hazy ash on the atmosphere.

It doesn't really take much to reduce smog pollution especially in the cities. There are millions of people who own cars and use their cars everyday. Car pooling is one simple thing that we can do to reduce air pollution. When there are fewer cars that ply our roads, there will be less chemicals that will be emitted into our air.

We should also make sure that the tailpipes of our cars aren't emitting smog. The best way to do this is to follow the regulation of the DMV and have your cars checked for smog at least every other year. You should also take care of your car so that it will run smoothly emitting less carbon dioxide. Using good quality fuels for your car is also one simple way to reduce smog.
